My Grandma Carol Ann Switzer

She lived with her grandparents starting at 18 months old. Her grandma would take the spoon from her at that age because she was holding it with her left hand, in order to make her right handed (it worked). That was probably done so that other kids wouldn't treat her badly for being different than usual. When she must’ve been 3 years old (according to her) she fell out of a moving vehicle. They didn’t have seat belts back then. She was standing up and holding onto the door latch. When they rounded a corner, she fell out. The vehicle wasn’t going too quickly. She skinned her knees. In grade 2 they learned how to knit. Grandma already knew how to knit from her grandpa. Her grandma took her sweater that she had grown out of, and knit mitts and socks out of it. Her grandma hooked (made) rugs. She took nylon stockings, dyed them, cut them in strips and made rugs out of them. She also used old dresses to make rugs because it made the rug colorful.
